How Many Days Are Left in the Year?

The number of days remaining in a year is simply the total days in that year (365, or 366 in a leap year) minus the current day-of-year count.

Day of year

A date's "day of year" is its position counting from January 1 as day 1. December 31 is day 365 in a common year, or day 366 in a leap year. This figure is shown automatically on the homepage date card for tomorrow's date.

Why this is useful

Day-of-year and days-remaining figures are used in business reporting (fiscal-year tracking), agriculture and astronomy, and general year-planning.
