Kenya Calendar

Kenya uses East Africa Time (UTC+3) year-round with no daylight saving — being on the equator, day length barely changes through the year. Its public holidays are set by the Public Holidays Act and mark key moments of the independence story, from Madaraka Day (self-rule, 1963) to Jamhuri Day (the republic).

When a public holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is observed instead. Mazingira Day (10 October) is an environment-focused holiday that replaced the former Moi Day. Idd-ul-Fitr and Eid al-Adha are also public holidays, but depend on moon sighting, so we omit them here — see our Data Sources page.
