Bangladesh Calendar

Bangladesh runs on a single time zone — Bangladesh Standard Time (UTC+6) — with no daylight saving. The working week runs Sunday to Thursday, with Friday and Saturday as the weekend. Alongside the Gregorian calendar used for official business, the country also keeps the Bengali solar calendar (Bangabda) for cultural dates like Pohela Boishakh, and the Islamic Hijri calendar, which sets most religious holidays.

Government-gazetted holidays combine fixed national days (Independence Day, Victory Day, International Mother Language Day) with religious holidays. Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha and other Islamic and lunisolar Hindu and Buddhist observances depend on moon sighting or lunar calculation and move each year, so we omit them here until confirmed — see our Data Sources page.
