Iran Calendar

Iran uses Iran Standard Time (UTC+3:30) and no longer observes daylight saving, which was abolished in 2022. Official life runs on the Solar Hijri (Persian) calendar, whose year begins at Nowruz around the March equinox; Friday is the weekly holiday and the week starts on Saturday.

Holidays tied to the Solar Hijri calendar, such as Nowruz and Revolution Day, fall on near-identical Gregorian dates each year and are shown here. Iran also observes many religious holidays set by the lunar Islamic calendar (including Tasua, Ashura and both Eids); these move about 11 days earlier each year and are omitted here — see our Data Sources page.
