Jamaica Calendar

Jamaica uses Eastern Standard Time (UTC−5) year-round with no daylight saving, so it matches New York in winter and is an hour behind it in summer. Its ten public holidays include Ash Wednesday — unusual worldwide — and an early-August double celebration of Emancipation Day (1 August) and Independence Day (6 August).

When a public holiday falls on a Sunday, it is observed on the following Monday. Labour Day (23 May) is traditionally a day of community volunteer projects, and National Heroes Day falls on the third Monday in October.
