Philippines Calendar

The Philippines uses a single time zone nationwide — Philippine Time (UTC+8) — despite being an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands. The Gregorian calendar governs official, business and daily life; as Southeast Asia's only majority-Catholic nation, holidays tied to the Christian liturgical calendar (Holy Week, Christmas) sit alongside civic days marking the country's independence and national heroes.

Philippine law distinguishes 'regular holidays' (non-working, with premium pay rules for anyone required to work) from 'special non-working days'. The President issues an annual proclamation confirming exact dates. Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha are also declared national holidays but depend on official moon sighting, so we omit them here until a specific Gregorian date is confirmed — see our Data Sources page.
